Are you serious.

And from NC. Great.
cianconnellcianconnell on February 11th, 2009 07:14 pm (UTC)
When I saw that it was from NC, I immediately thought of you. Sorry, though maybe they're looking for more "writers?" And I use that term loosely, judging by the snippets they post.

*blushes*

Look, we've all got our little kinks... ;)
cianconnellcianconnell on February 11th, 2009 07:15 pm (UTC)
See, and that's exactly what I think that it is, but they have to hide it in some...biblical bullshit, which makes them feel better about having such kinks. Oy!

Yeah, I'm totally with you on this. Kinky stories with some Bible stuff thrown in to make them feel better!

That was awesome reading material. The link, I mean. I didn't order any of the books. YET.
Elle: Jack with an axetheletterelle on February 12th, 2009 04:17 pm (UTC)
Um, before you do, check with me. *blushes mightily* cause I already have a few.

I was joking about buying them. I would only read them if they were free--although kink disguised as propaganda/morality tales does sound pretty awesome!
Sandysmc36 on February 11th, 2009 06:31 pm (UTC)
Um...yeah. Ok.
I may just have to go find my bible rock and throw it at you.
That was...um...yeah. Ok.
cianconnellcianconnell on February 11th, 2009 07:17 pm (UTC)
OMG, and remember the creepy song on the webpage for the explanation for said bible rock? I thank God daily for...you know...kinda escaping those who thought they had a direct pipeline to Him. Then again, Colorado Springs is only and hour away, and they can rival the best of the best in NEBF.

They totally *got* my friend who moved from MA about five years ago and used to laugh with me...she and her husband have just been *reborn*.

Go them! Away from me...for serious.
Sandysmc36 on February 11th, 2009 09:03 pm (UTC)
How could I forget the creepy song! It was, well, really, really creepy.
Here's hoping your friend isn't *reborn* like that in the stories because um, yeah. No thank you.
Sister Roserose_in_texas on February 11th, 2009 06:35 pm (UTC)
Why, thank you for finding me some new reading material!
cianconnellcianconnell on February 11th, 2009 07:19 pm (UTC)
I...would be kinda afraid to actually read the "stories." I a little bit hate the Duggar thread of the TWoP site, but it does come through at times, with some really creepy material. See above, and the websites devoted to the above (I had to bail early) and the Gothard "survivors" and others.
60schic60schic on February 11th, 2009 07:25 pm (UTC)
Um....I think the word I'm looking for is *okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay*

Do you think there's a call for this much spanking fetish reading material?
overnighter: Squickyovernighter on February 11th, 2009 08:19 pm (UTC)
Heh. You know that my so-called "friends" totally signed me up for a Christian DD dating site for one of my significant birthdays, right?

I got creepy, creepy e-mails from a variety of "youth pastors" for *years.* In the meantime, my mouth looked liked this: : o

I can't believe that they're writing "real" stories about it now. There was, for a while, a twitchy and scary subset of the Fandom of Shame that was into it, but I just assumed it would never get farther than badfic.
60schic60schic on February 11th, 2009 08:23 pm (UTC)
No, I did not know that.

The fact that this is actual published *fiction* just squicks me the hell out.
Elle: Creepy girlstheletterelle on February 12th, 2009 04:19 pm (UTC)
Well, *self*-published. Ebooks don't really count. :)
cianconnellcianconnell on February 11th, 2009 10:53 pm (UTC)
Ew, really? That's just disturbing. At first, I didn't believe that this was a thing, i.e., I thought for sure that it was just kinky sexual stuff, but then I dug deeper into the boards and stuff and it's just...so disturbing.

(Though I still think that it's kind of just a kink, with the religious overtones just to make them all feel better about themselves...the spanking doesn't bother me so much as the man and woman roles and the non-consensual part...oy!)
Elle: Corey loves Jesus!theletterelle on February 12th, 2009 04:19 pm (UTC)
O.O They have dating sites??

Part of me is horrified, and part of me desperately wants to make up a persona and see it for myself. Dreadful, I know. :)
Sandysmc36 on February 11th, 2009 09:03 pm (UTC)
I would like to meet the people who pay for said reading materials.
Um, no, on second thought, I probably don't.
60schic60schic on February 11th, 2009 10:13 pm (UTC)
:p

Where do you find these things? *mind boggles*
cianconnellcianconnell on February 11th, 2009 10:53 pm (UTC)
The Duggar thread over at TWoP is full of such gems ;-)
elzedelzed on February 12th, 2009 12:14 am (UTC)
Heavens, woman - who are these people? I mean, spanking's not my thing, but I get that people have their kinks, fine by me - but the whole "submit to your man", not to mention the godbothering, is just...

squick!!!

Although the bit where a woman gets disciplined because she coauld have killed a man by adding too much pepper to his food absolutely cracked me up.
Elle: America makes my head essplodetheletterelle on February 12th, 2009 04:41 pm (UTC)
Oh, I know, some of those excuses for spanking they come up with are insane. :)

I think a lot of the eroticism has to do with whether you're raised in that kind of environment. Eroticizing something gives you power over it, and if you grow up in an environment where you have little to no power, it's a safe way to subvert it.

I know! I kind of loved that part, just a bit.
